If you have been doing research into the vibrant world of trade in Mexico you have likely heard of the familiar primary certification acronyms like NOM and NMX. But IFETEL?
This important certification is issued by the Mexican Federal Institute of Communications and governs regulation of specific electronic devices for import as well as management of frequencies for radio and wireless and other telecommunication outlets. While IFETEL certification is expensive when compared to NOM and others, it has the benefit if being a one-time investment. NOM, by contrast, has a bi-annual review and an annual renewal process. It should be noted that IFETEL is in addition to and does not replace NOM.
It is worthwhile to note that the advanced electronics and telecommunications market is a vibrant and growing corner of the Mexican economy. This has been enticing a growing number of foreign business partners.
